All band students will participate in competitions, including MPA, and have the opportunity to learn various performance styles. Our after school programs include Marching Band, Jazz Big Band, Jazz Combo and Percussion Ensemble. Marching Band will compete throughout the Fall season. Our unique ‘Night Out’ recital showcases soloists and small ensembles. We expect over 100 students to participate in our comprehensive programs.
Our Director’s ultimate goal is to provide students with a lifelong understanding and appreciation for quality music and music making through daily practice and study. A greater discipline and sense of community will be gained by those students who choose to participate in Marching Band, The Jordan Regiment.
You can help by volunteering, chaperoning and fundraising. All parents are encouraged to volunteer, chaperone, and participate in fundraising, participating in one or all these will allow you to watch the show, raise money for the band, and to support your band student. Volunteers can participate in an array of activities. In particular, you will be asked to chaperone camps and competitions, bring food and drinks to banquets, do uniform laundry as well as participate in our Marching Band Pit Crew. There will also be many opportunities for fundraising like fruit sales, car washes, Duke Concession, and etc. Please contact one of the Boosters for more information and to sign up.
The Jordan Regiment is the largest and most competitive marching band in Durham. Our program offers a unique opportunity to be part of something great. This opportunity requires extra planning, the work of Band Boosters and Parent Volunteers, as well as a budget above and beyond what public school funding provides. You will be asked to participate in various fundraising events throughout the year. We traditionally participate in Florida Indian River Groves citrus fruit sales. Over the past several years, we have staffed concession stands for Duke University as part of our fundraising efforts.
